New York City White Pages

It is often difficult to know what you are getting yourself into when you move to another city, or visit one that you don’t know at all. New York City is an exciting and wonderful place to visit, but if you have never been there before you might want to do some research before you go and make sure you have information available to you when you are there.

New York City is different to the rest of America. If you stop someone on the street to ask them for directions or help you have only about a 50% chance that they will want to help you. Generally people won’t be rude to you, but New Yorkers are used to tourists and don’t feel like they should talk to every person that asks for their help everyday. And why should they. If you spent the day walking down 5th avenue for instance you would be asked for help by salesman, homeless, tourists, someone asking for directions, and the list really does go on. New Yorkers walk with their head down and walk to get somewhere not to get held up.

However you can get the help you need from various places before you go. For instance you can go on the whitepages and find the address and phone number of pretty much any business you need to find. You can also find the address of your friends apartment before you jump in the cab. Whitepages.com can also help you plan many things, with specialized pages for weddings, auto centre, moving ad home improvement.

New York City is a community but you really do need to find your own way around it and you will fit in fine. No one wants to hold your hand, but that’s why the saying goes… if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.
