New York City Weather

New York City is an amazing place to live and a wonderful place to visit. Although the city never sleeps, it does have seasons. So it’s best to dress the part, follow our monthly descriptions before you pack your suitcase.


January Weather:
* Average High: 36°F (4°C) & Average Low: 26°F (-3°C)
* January is probably the coolest month in New York City. The buildings create wind tunnels, which can make the wind feel cooler or stronger.
* You need to bring boots, that will keep your feet warm and dry. You should also dress in layers because outside is very cool and inside is heated. You should bring a hat, gloves, a scarf and ear muffs.

February Weather:
* Average High: 32°F (4°C) & Average Low: 29°F (-3°C)
* February is warmer than January and has less rain, but you will still need to rug up.
* You need to bring boots, that will keep your feet warm and dry. You should also dress in layers because outside is very cool and inside is heated. You should bring a hat, gloves, a scarf and ear muffs.

March Weather:
* Average High: 50°F (10°C) & Average Low: 35°F (2°C)
* March is generally a rainy month, but it is a bit warmer.
* You will need an umbrella and water proof boots and a coat. Don’t even think about open toe shoes if you are walking and make sure you wear long pants.

April Weather:
* Average High: 60°F (16°C) & Average Low: 45°F (7°C)
* April is also quite rainy but it can get fairly warm.
* You will need an umbrella and water proof boots and a coat. Don’t even think about open toe shoes if you are walking and make sure you wear long pants. But unlike March, you will need some lighter clothes in case the heat gets to you when you walk around.

May Weather:
* Average High: 71°F (22°C) & Average Low: 55°F (13°C)
* May is a very popular time of year, you may need an umbrella for occasional rain but just make sure you pack comfortable walking clothes, because this is the time of year that you can walk anywhere without getting cold or hot.

June Weather:
* Average High: 79°F (26°C) & Average Low: 64°F (18°C)
* The weather is warm at this time of year, you will need to be comfortable walking around in this heat so make sure your bring comfortable shoes and clothes.

July Weather:
* Average High: 85°F (29°C) & Average Low: 70°F (21°C)
* July is normally the hottest and wettest month of the year, so pack cool clothes, but also bring an umbrella and waterproof outer clothes.

August Weather:
* Average High: 83°F (28°C) & Average Low: 69°F (21°C)
* August is hot and humid, but drier than July, but make sure you still pack an umbrella and water proof clothes.

September Weather:
* Average High: 76°F (24°C) & Average Low: 61°F (16°C)
* September is a lovely warm month in New York City, but evenings can be a bit cooler.
* Still bring water resistant clothes and good walking gear.

October Weather:
* Average High: 65°F (18°C) & Average Low: 50°F (10°C)
* October is almost the most perfect month to visit New York City. All you will need is comfortable clothes and shoes, and umbrella couldn’t hurt.

November Weather:
* Average High: 54°F (12°C) & Average Low: 41°F (5°C)
* There is rarely snow in November but it is quite cold. Just make sure that you have warm clothes that provide windproof support.

December Weather:
* Average High: 44°F (7°C) & Average Low: 32°F (0°C)
* It might be cold and snowy, but December is great time to visit the magical New York. You will need warm clothes, shoes that will keep your feet dry and long pants.
